Road To Indy: eSeries and testing at Homestead

Jason had a blast participating in the second round of the TireRack: Road To Indy eSeries presented by CooperTires and racing with other prospects and drivers from USF2000 and Indy Pros. Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park is a half mile oval and Jason has very little experience with this kind of racing.  He qualified 19th of 23 but just was only 0.3 tenths of a second behind the leader.  The field was very tight.  After suffering some damage and spending some time in the pits he made his way up to 17th.  The second race was great, Jason battled his way up to 9th and was fighting hard with 8th and 10th when the cars tangled and he dropped back.  He continued to fight and finished 16th. Watch the full race on YouTube. The next race will be February 2nd at Barber Motorsports Park.

Jason and the Racing Bandit team competed in the iRacing 24 hrs of Daytona e-series on January 22nd.  They qualified 16th and moved into 9th after a few hours.  In the 8th hour of the race they suffered a 15 minute repair cycle after a GT car ran out of fuel and darted in front of them.  They dropped to 16th but continued to press forward finishing 7th and 16 laps down.

You may be wondering why Jason is racing with the Road To Indy Prospects.  In a few days, he’ll be heading to Florida’s Homestead Miami Speedway for two days of testing in the IGY6 Motorsports Road To Indy USF Junior F4 car.  More to come on this soon.
