Bicester, England – With the United Formula Ford Championship wrapped up, myself and PWR1 turn our attention to the largest two Formula Ford races in the world. For those unfamiliar with the Formula Ford scene, the Formula Ford Festival by the BRSCC, and Walter Hayes Trophy hosted by James Beckett, serve as a sort of all star race for the best Formula Ford drivers in the world.

The Formula Ford Festival takes place this year on October 20th at Brands Hatch. With over ten nationalities competing in this race, and drivers representing their countries through Team Canada and formerly Team USA, the event garners the attention of those as high as Formula One.

While I haven’t had the luck I needed during the championship races at Brands Hatch, my team and I have spent the past few weeks putting their full focus on winning the event. There are a few ways to look at these big races. You can be nervous, because unlike a championship, you only get one opportunity to make your mark, or, like myself, you can picture it as everything you’ve fought for over the year coming together.

The Formula Ford Festival begins during the week, with testing on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, followed by the qualifying heats on Saturday, and the semi finals and finals on Sunday. Look out for a timetable in the next few days, and check in to see updates as the week progresses.

See you at the track,
